Fathers Day today, so apart from the 4-pack of Magners, the Bethany picked 'Best Dad' socks, and the box of licquorice allsorts, what did I get? (Not the Nintendo DS I've been throwing hints about ...). I got to spend an hour having the living bejaysus scared out of me on the below:
Charlotte loves climbing, and we discovered this morning that the dry-ski slope at Ipswich has a climbing wall and ropes section, so I booked us in for the last slot of the day. When we got arrived there was an excitable group of school children who were winding up the guys running the wall, thankfully they left which meant that Charlotte and I had the entire wall and ropes to ourselves.
After the walk-around and the kitting out of helmets and harnesses, we were let loose. The wall I negotiated pretty well, but I was absolutely bricking it when I had to venture out on a very thin wire and walk across holding a rope at waistheight, but 3 foot in front of me ... The leaping across the 1.5 metre gap wasn't too enthralling either, and neither was the big jump of the side to rapel down the side when we were done ... But after going round once, I found myself enjoying it.
Charlotte had fun though, with the instructors sending her round the wrong-way or getting her to do the course with her eyes shut. The photo shows what happened when she tried ...
And yes, the bloke running the top of the course looked very scary in his shorts and sensible boots.
